Pan De Vida Ministry
Pan De Vida is a three-fold ministry located in the small town of Sandoval, outside of Matamoras, Mexico. At Pan De Vida we minister to children, women, and to the local prisons. As an emergency shelter and long-term care facility for women and children, Pan De Vida provides safe shelter in a home environment, good nutrition, health care, education and the opportunity to heal and strive for a spiritual foundation in Christ Jesus. Pan De Vida ministers to the inmates of local prisons with the purpose of breaking the bondage of sin through the sharing of the Gospel.
What We Do
Pan De Vida, founded in 1995 by Esther Tijerina Rocha, an extraordinary Christian missionary whose warm sense of humor, magnetic personality and tireless devotion is making possible a place of refuge and healing for women and children who have been placed in harm's way.
Before coming to Matamoros, Esther worked with imprisoned women in Mexico City. Mexican law dictates that the dependent children of imprisoned women must stay in prison with their mothers unless others are willing to care for them. As a result of her efforts, the Pan De Vida facility now provides food, safe shelter, education and Christian guidance to over 45 women and children. For many of the children it is the first structured and loving environment they have ever known. With the love of Esther and her staff, along with numerous volunteers, church groups, and with your assistance, Pan De Vida will flourish as a Christ centered community and safe haven for abused and neglected women and children.
